These posts reflect my own opinions and points of view. They are my blogs after all. I research and do my best to get the facts right but sometimes I might get something wrong. If I do, forgive me and please tell me. Do your own research, develop your own opinions and let’s talk about where we agree and where we don’t. I’m always interested in learning a differing point of view. Chances are, we agree on more than we don’t.
What If Reducing the Deficit and Building the Country’s Best Trade School Were the Same Idea?
Austin ISD lists a brand new HVAC program and a new cosmetology program at Clifton Career Development School for this school year, 2026-27. As of today, the district's own program page for Clifton still lists both as "more information to come," with no instructor hired and no equipment bought. That matters, because it means there's no AISD budget line to unwind here, no negotiation to convince anyone to give something up. If a company like Meta funded the build out, the equipment, and the staffing for that HVAC program before it actually launches, Austin ISD would simply never spend that money in the first place. That's about as close to a clean, guaranteed dollar as this district is going to find anywhere in its budget.

Could a State takeover give Austin ISD a way out of recapture? Here's what the law actually requires — and why I don't want the State running our schools.
Burnet and Webb Parents: You Still Have Some Power Over the AISD Issue.
Burnet and Webb parents aren't powerless in what happens next — Texas law actually gives you a direct say in whether the State orders closure or a board of managers. Here's how that petition process works.
Things to Think About: Austin ISD Is In A Mess. Here's How We Start Fixing It.
Austin ISD earned a B this year — and still has 20 F-rated campuses. Here's why waiting until year five to treat failing schools like an emergency has to change, and where we go from here.
